Damn, that sucks. You’re right – it’s the last thing I would have expected California to do. This really demonstrates just how much of a grip misguided religious rhetoric has on the US legal system.

The highest right God gives us is the right to free choice. It’s not up to the courts to decide for us, what we can and cannot do.

Had they actually *looked* at divorce rate figures, they might have found that there is far less emotional trauma in a gay marriage than in a straight one – I’m pretty sure gay couples don’t divorce and leave young children behind.

So yes, this is religion-motivated, and it’s embarassing, actually.

Yes. But it will be challenged next year hopefully. Something like this can not stand.

It is very sad that a small group of people can get such a large amount of support like this. Christianity in the US needs to learn that it can not put belief in as law. I expect this to be either overturned or shot down in 2010.

Hey there. I was pretty upset with the decision as well, and then to have it upheld 6-1 is even more disturbing. And then, I find extremely disturbing, that gay marriages that were performed prior to the ban can remain legit. If those can be legit, why can’t all? One of the most stupidest court decisions I’ve read about, and I’m sad to say that my home state is run by fucktards. Later.

Lets hope this is overturned with a new vote in 2010, but in time it will be overturned, The under 30 generation are going to change the direction of this country, and as more and more get involved and vote the haters will become a much smaller minority as time goes by.

I’d like to think I’m a part of a new generation of great writers; maybe spark a revolution in the authorial world. I’m young, so there’s plenty of time.
